Sendai Beef and Sendai Kuroge Wagyu Produced in Tome City

In Tome City, two types of beef produced under the management of the Sendai Beef Brand Promotion Council, chaired by the Governor of Miyagi Prefecture, are available: "Sendai Beef" and "Sendai Kuroge Wagyu." At the end of fiscal year 2013, the "Hasama Beef" and "Ishikoshi Beef" brands were progressively dissolved, leading to a unified "Sendai Beef" brand from fiscal year 2014. Currently, approximately 40% of Sendai Beef supplied through the agricultural cooperative comes from Tome City.

This designation is for Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black cattle) raised in Tome City that has been graded A5 or B5 according to beef carcass trading standards. It is distributed to markets recognized by the Sendai Beef Brand Promotion Council, such as the Tokyo Central Wholesale Meat Market, the Sendai Central Wholesale Meat Market, and various livestock shows.

Sendai Kuroge Wagyu from Tome City
This designation applies to Kuroge Wagyu raised in Tome City with a grading of A or B at levels 3-4 or a C grade of 5. It is also distributed to Sendai Beef Brand Promotion Council-approved markets and livestock shows, including the Tokyo Central Wholesale Meat Market and the Sendai Central Wholesale Meat Market.
