Characteristics of Unzen Kiwami Gyu

Unzen Kiwami Gyu is a premium beef brand raised in the Unzen and Saikai regions of Nagasaki Prefecture. Known for its fertile lands and picturesque environment, the area is home to expansive pastures overlooking the Kujukushima (99 Islands) and the majestic Unzen mountains. These cattle thrive in this rich and nurturing environment, surrounded by the region’s renowned hot springs and scenic beauty.

Key Features

Breed: A crossbreed of Japanese Black (Kuroge Washu) and Holstein cattle, Unzen Kiwami Gyu perfectly blends the soft, marbled texture of wagyu with the robust flavor of Holstein red meat.

Affordable Luxury: It provides a premium beef experience at a more accessible price compared to pure wagyu, making it a favorite among consumers.

Careful Selection: Managed by the Unzen Mizuo Farm, only cattle graded 3 or higher in quality by the Japan Meat Grading Association are selected. Additional criteria include marbling, meat color, texture, and fat quality, ensuring top-tier beef.

Aging Process: The beef undergoes a seven-day aging process, which enhances its tenderness, flavor depth, and moisture retention.

Rich Flavor and Texture: The result is beef with exceptional marbling, a soft texture, and a rich, juicy flavor that is both satisfying and refined.

Unzen Kiwami Gyu reflects the warmth and care of its natural surroundings and the expertise of local farmers, offering a taste that is as rich as the landscape it comes from. Enjoy the harmony of nature and craftsmanship with every bite.
