Among the approximately 350 branded beef labels in Japan, JA Group Saga is recognized as one of the top regions capable of consistently supplying high-quality beef. "Saga Beef" refers to Japanese Black cattle raised by fattening farmers within the JA Group Saga area that achieve the highest meat quality grades of "5" or "4," as defined by the Japan Meat Grading Association, with a BMS (Beef Marbling Standard) of "No. 7" or higher. Beef that does not meet these criteria is branded as "Saga Wagyu."
Meat Quality Grade, BMS Value, and Brand Classification Chart
Saga Beef is known for its beautifully marbled meat, with finely textured fat that enhances the flavor of the tender red meat. It’s perfect for both steak and shabu-shabu. This richly flavorful and sweet meat is the result of Saga Prefecture’s unique mild climate, pure water, and clear air. Furthermore, JA Group Saga's fattening farmers show extraordinary care from the calf stage, applying their expertise and skilled techniques to ensure the cattle are raised stress-free with meticulously balanced feed and care.
