Hitachi Beef is a brand of black Wagyu beef from Ibaraki Prefecture, sharing the same roots as Japan’s top three Wagyu brands. It is known for its rich flavor, sweet fat, and fine, tender texture. However, its recognition is still low, and efforts are ongoing to promote its deliciousness. While its price is slightly higher compared to other domestic Wagyu, it is relatively affordable when compared to other famous brand beef. Customers have given it high praise, saying it is the best among branded beef and offers value beyond its price. The history of Hitachi Beef began in 1976 when the Ibaraki Prefecture Beef Brand Establishment Promotion Council was established and the beef was named “Hitachi Beef.” Producers are carefully selected and registered as designated producers. Only beef with a meat quality grade of AB4.5 or higher is certified, and especially the female cattle are known for their soft, juicy meat with the unique aroma of Wagyu. The rich natural environment and delicious water of Ibaraki Prefecture contribute to raising Hitachi Beef in a stress-free environment, enhancing its flavor. Since 2014, Hitachi Beef has also been exported overseas and is now served in restaurants in Vietnam and Thailand.
