What is Hanatsuru Wagyu?
Hanatsuru Wagyu is a premium Japanese Black cattle breed nurtured by the warm and rich natural environment of Kagoshima. Raised with meticulous care in a carefully controlled environment and fed a unique diet, Hanatsuru Wagyu was recognized for its exceptional flavor and was registered as a branded beef in 2005 (Trademark Registration No. 4956904).
Only beef that meets strict criteria—such as a quality grade of 4 or higher, with superior ribeye area, thickness of the rib section, and well-balanced meat quality—is certified as Hanatsuru Wagyu. With only around 400 heads produced annually, it is an extremely rare wagyu that rarely makes its way to the broader market. The fine marbling, soft texture, and ideal balance of fat within the muscle fibers are signature traits of Kagoshima Izumi Wagyu, placing Hanatsuru Wagyu among the top-ranked wagyu in Kagoshima Prefecture.
