In the raising of Akigawa beef, water from the Sugo spring near the Akigawa Valley is used. This water originates from rain and snow that falls on the lush forests of Okutama, which is then purified and flows out as pristine natural water from the Akirudai Plateau. The cattle that drink this abundant, pure water grow into beef with a refreshing flavor, free from any unpleasant odors.
